DESCRIPTION:Please come and join us for a choral workshop on 22 February 20

 lease note – The room we are using is an upstairs room with no lift acce
 ss.\n\nCost – \n\n£15 per person (£20.00 inc lunch)\n\nNB. Scores can
  be hired on the day for an additional £2 if required\n\nNB. Where the wo
 rk splits into parts\, please sing what you would normally sing – Ie 1st
  or 2nd as indicated.\n\nParking – . Free parking is available at the re
 ar of the building. Please ensure that you do not use spaces marked for th
 e Health Centre next door or in the grounds of Asda Supermarket. There is 
 further parking available to the rear of Chadderton Town Hall nearby.\n\nI
 f travelling by Metrolink\, the nearest stop is Westwood - which is approx
 .  15 mins  walk away or 3 stops on the 59 bus towards Middleton. \n\nL
 unch on the day - \n\nA meat and potato or cheese and onion pie lunch wil
 l be available on the day at an additional cost of  £5.00. Please indica

  own lunch if preferred.\n\nMusical Director Tom Newall\n\nBritish conduct
 or\, Tom Newall\, has established a successful freelance career in the UK 
 and beyond\n\nHe founded the Piccadilly Symphony Orchestra in 2014 to giv
 e young professional musicians experience in a high-quality ensemble\, hel
 ping to bridge the gap between a player’s studies and professional orche
 stras. Tom is also very active as an opera conductor.  Recent highlights 
 have included Macbeth\, La Bohème\, The Magic Flute\, A Masked Ball 
 and The Turn of the Screw with Leeds Youth Opera\, Cosi fan Tutte with
  Flatpack Music\, Die Fledermaus with Fulham Opera and two premieres wit
 h Manchester Opera Project. In Summer 2018\, he made his debut at Buxton 
 International Festival conducting The Orphans of Koombu. Highlights of th
 e 2022/23 season include co-creating and conducting a new opera ‘The Lig
 ht Princess’ with director Sophie Gilpin at Leeds Conservatoire\, and a 
 busy choral season covering Handel Dixit Dominus\, Stravinsky Symphony of 
 Psalms\, Mendelssohn Elijah\, Haydn Creation and Brahms Requiem. Tom is cu
 rrently Music Director for both Salford and Congleton Choral Societies.\n\
 nSoloist – David Cane\n\nWe are delighted to welcome our very own  tale
 nted M.D. as our soloist for this event. He is very much looking forwa
 rd to our performance on 6th April 2025 at the RNCM in Manchester. David b
 egan singing in Leicester Cathedral choir aged 8. He studied for his under
 graduate degree at the University of Cambridge where he sang as a choral s
 cholar in the King’s College Chapel Choir. David completed his postgradu
 ate studies in Vocal Performance at the RNCM under the tutelage of Peter W
 ilson. David has been directing choirs and teaching singing\, piano and 
 music theory for just under 10 years. In 2022\, David completed a PhD in
  Musicology at the RNCM\, supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Co
 uncil\, on the stage works of Benjamin Britten\n\nAccompanist – Duncan R
 obertson\n\nDuncan is our regular accompanist at Oldham Choral Society and
  we are pleased that he is able to join us for this event.  He is Directo
 r of music at Oldham Hulme Grammar school and studied music at both the Ro
 yal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and the University of Aberdeen. Du
 ncan has a robust skill set which includes piano accompaniment\, rehearsal
  pianist and conductor as well as vocal coaching and music education.\n\n\
