We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Oldham Eddie Moores and the Lady Mayoress to our carol concert last night. They are pictured here with MD David Cane and President Fred Jones.

The audience were in good voice for the communal carols and joined in with the festive singing with Ashton under Lyne Brass Bans. The choir enjoyed singing the carols David had chosen and particularly enjoyed singing the arrangements of Gaudete and the Wexford Carol by our talented accompanist Duncan Robertson.

Audence review below.

Oldham Choral Society certainly got a large audience into a festive mood with their Annual Christmas Concert in the Parish Church on Friday. The Choir was in excellent form with Carols old and new and the Ashton Band treated us to a few songs to sing-along with. For me, the sound of a Band makes Christmas and they certainly didn’t disappoint.

David Cane, the Choir’s Musical Director, had obviously worked hard with the choir to reach the standard they achieved, and accompanist Duncan Robertson was in fine form.  My highlight ?  - a beautiful rendering of the Coventry Carol.

All in all, an excellent way to get the Christmas Season off to a brilliant start.  F.S.J
